Dr Mylne is Deputy Director of the Centre for Crop and Disease Management and a Professor at Curtin University in Perth. By training he is a geneticist and biochemist and received his PhD in plant genetic engineering from the University of Queensland (2002). Thereafter he worked in developmental genetics and epigenetics at the John Innes Centre (2001-2005) and then peptide biochemistry in the IMB, a biomedical institute at the University of Queensland (2006-2012). He has held successive, national ARC QEII and Future Fellowships (2008-2016), was Australia’s 2012 ASPS Goldacre medal winner, a 2014 Feinberg Foundation Visiting Fellow to the Weizmann in Israel and a 2018 Fulbright Professional Scholar to the University of Minnesota. He founded his own lab at the University of Western Australia’s School of Molecular Sciences in Perth in 2013 and focused on protein evolution, peptide biosynthesis and started a program in herbicide development and target discovery. Early in 2021 he took up his current role where he’ll work on the in planta behaviour and efficacy of new and current fungicides.
