Australia’s border is gradually reopening. Fully vaccinated Australians and permanent residents are currently able to travel into Australia, and restrictions are beginning to ease. As of 15 January 2022, you can travel into Queensland from anywhere in Australia.

While this page will be updated frequently, you can also visit the Australian Government Department of Health’s inbound international travel page for the latest policies and the State of Queensland’s changes to border restrictions page.

Unless you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, you will need a valid Australian visa to enter the country. New Zealand passport holders can apply for a visa upon arrival in the country. All other passport holders, regardless of age, must apply for a visa before leaving home, at the nearest Australian embassy or consulate. Learn more about visa options and applications on the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs’ visa page.

Do not delay in applying for a visa, a passport, or both. Processing can take multiple weeks to several months. It is important to start early!
